Café Federico originates from Hacienda Santa Inés, located in the municipality of Consacá, Nariño department, Colombia, owned by the Buendía Martínez family since 1905. Its coffee plantations thrive at altitudes between 1,850 and 2,050 meters, where exceptional climatic conditions highlight the unique characteristics of the fruit, producing a coffee internationally recognized for its high acidity, natural fragrance, intense sweet notes with a pronounced caramel flavor, and a medium body.
Our hacienda, situated on the slopes of the Galeras volcano in southwestern Colombia, boasts an extraordinary topography, and its proximity to the equator ensures constant sunlight throughout the year. This unique and unparalleled environment allows the plants to mature slowly, developing a higher concentration of sugars and acids, thereby imparting to Café Federico its finesse, sweetness, and outstanding quality.
The planting, harvesting, processing, and roasting of our coffee adhere to strict quality and environmental sustainability standards, preserving a century-old tradition.
Mr. Delfín Martínez acquires a plot of approximately 2,500 hectares in the municipality of Consacá, Nariño department, Colombia.
This property is inherited by his three daughters. 700 hectares are granted to his daughter, Inés Martínez de Buendía, including Hacienda Santa Inés.
Following his retirement as a Civil Engineer, Jorge Federico Buendía, son of Inés Martínez, dedicates 100% of his time to the modernized development of the Hacienda, on the hectares remaining after the 1961 agrarian reform.
This year, his wife and children actively joined the hacienda's production, ensuring the continuation of this project under the leadership of a new generation.
The brand Café Federico is created for family and friends' consumption. It will not be until 2025 that it enters the market with unparalleled flavor, aroma, and quality.
